Diverse Leader Program (DLP)
The purpose of the Diverse Leader Program (DLP) is to identify, develop, and support 30 educators of color with obtaining a P-12 Principal License and securing a principal or assistant principal position. Through the coordination of ROE #17, ROE LEAD Hubs working with the Illinois Association of Regional Offices of Education (IARSS), Illinois Association of Rural and Small Schools (IARSS), Black Educational Advocacy Coalition (BEAC), and Dr. Lionel Allen, Jr. of Ed Leaders Matters, is providing customized leadership supports to aspiring leaders of color provided by experienced and effective leaders of color.
Program Supports:

$6000 in tuition support to cover Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 classes (note: additional tuition support of $3000 per semester available for summer 2023, fall 2023, and spring 2024 contingent on program renewal)

Access to monthly virtual Lead|ED Learning Workshops during the preparation program

A full academic year of 1-on-1 mentorship by an experienced school leader of color (once on the job)

Job embedded professional development, and cross-district collaboration (once on the job)
Diverse Leader Program Requirements:

Be a licensed educator of color in an Illinois school

Be committed to becoming a school leader (principal or assistant principal) upon completion of their preparation program

Gain acceptance into a state-approved principal preparation program and begin preparation program in fall 2022

Satisfactorily complete all principal preparation program requirements

Be committed to being mentored by an experienced school leader of color

Be committed to participating in job-embedded professional development and supports during the first year on the job

Complete program evaluations and provide other appropriate information as needed by DLP
