Meet the Staff
Raquel Eshleman is beginning her second year as the literacy instructional coach for ROE 17. She has worked in the field of education for over fifteen years. Raquel holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Western Illinois University where she was awarded the Outstanding Pre-Service Teaching award and an invitation to join Kappa Delta Pi; an academic organization based on merit and ability. Raquel’s classroom teaching years were spent with Paxton-Buckley-Loda as a seventh grade English language arts teacher, as well as opportunities to teach a class of sixth grade, and a year of ninth grade. Raquel furthered her education by attending Olivet Nazarene University. She received two master’s degrees; one in the area of curriculum and instruction and the other in reading. Raquel has a driven desire to learn, lead, and build relationships. She has mentored new teachers, supervised college students during pre-service teaching experiences, served on data and gifted teams, and was involved in the district-wide adoption and implementation of a balanced literacy model. In the time she has worked for the Regional Office of Education 17, she has led professional development workshops, assisted with implementation of new curriculum, created district curriculum maps, and facilitated teacher coaching.
